COUNSELING SERVICES Lighthouse Counseling and Consultants offers personal counseling for individuals and couples of all ages. Our services are provided in a confidential friendly atmosphere and conducted by professionals in their respective fields. We use a combination of many resources and tools both secular and non secular to develop a return to spiritual and mental health for our clients. Lighthouse Counseling and Consultants is Christ centered, biblically based counseling. What this means is we use the morals and ethics contained in the Bible as the final authority on the journey each of us takes during the course of our lives. We believe there is objective truth in life. While we acknowledge and respect the right to choice and self determination, we believe the fundamental issue that confronts all of us in life is our separation from our creator and that life's major struggle is to reconnect and re-establish that primary relationship. The Client Counselor Relationship We believe the client counselor relationship is only successful when proper matching is accomplished between our counselors and our clients. We make every effort to ensure their is a proper match between the clients desires for a counselor and counselors ability to address the areas a client presents as problematic. If we do not feel their is a good match between client and counselor we will refer out to an agency that is best suited to serve the clients best interests. Alternatives to Counseling - Coaching Services The difference between counseling services and life coaching services is briefly address as follows: Counseling involves a certified therapist or counselor. Coaching typically is not conducted by individuals with advanced degrees or training in therapeutic counseling. Counseling is usually of a longer duration and examines the root causes of entrenched behaviors. Coaching is normally shorter term and uses "script" and "plans" to help break undesirable habits and non entrenched behavior. Counseling involves people qualified to work with Psychologist and Psychiatrist for clients clinically diagnosed personality problems and individuals taking psychiatric medications. Coaching should never be used by individuals who are seeing a treating professional without the knowledge of the treating professional. Counseling is generally more expensive. Coaching is usually less expensive. Lighthouse Counseling does offer coaching services for individuals desiring them. The need for either coaching or counseling services is determined by the client and the counselor prior to the commencement of services.
